Trump Org Files Trademark for ‘The 47 Plan’, Claiming a Mobile Phone Launch is Coming
Donald Trump’s private company, Trump Org, filed a trademark application on April 6 for ‘The 47 Plan.’
The filing claims that the company plans to launch a mobile phone service using the trademark.
The move builds on earlier June 2025 filings for trademarks including ‘Trump’ and ‘T1,’ which also referenced plans for a mobile phone service. But unlike those earlier applications, the newly filed ‘The 47 Plan’ name appears to directly invoke Donald Trump’s status as the 47th President of the United States.
The filing also follows a report from The Verge, which recently identified Federal Communications Commission filings tied to a device labeled ‘T1.’ Those documents, while heavily redacted and lacking images, suggest that a phone associated with Trump Org may have undergone at least some level of regulatory testing.
While FCC certification does not guarantee a product will ever reach the market, it does indicate that development efforts may be underway.
Taken together, the FCC activity and the new trademark filing suggest that Trump Org is continuing to explore, and potentially accelerate, plans for a branded mobile phone offering.
Trump’s Unprecedented Trademark Filings Continue
Many of Trump Org’s recent trademark filings have been unprecedented for a sitting president.
This trademark application for ‘The 47 Plan’ continues to build on the unprecedented nature of Trump Org’s trademark portfolio.
Read Gerben IP’s blogs on recent Trump trademark filings:
While the previous filings for the mobile phone service were for ‘Trump’ and ‘T1,’ this filing directly references the Office of the Presidency (as Trump is currently the 47th President of the United States).
There has been no other sitting President in the history of the United States who has made a trademark filing that references the Office of the Presidency in connection with a for-profit enterprise.
Moreover, this application was filed on April 6, in the midst of Trump making some of the most serious threats to date against Iran.
So, will Trump Org launch this phone soon?
At a minimum, this filing tells us one thing clearly:
Trump Org still has a strong interest in the mobile phone space.
This is the second round of filings the company has made tied to mobile phones.
Typically, a company only makes multiple rounds of trademark filings, as was done here, if there are serious plans in the works.
