New Trademark Filings Suggest Trump May Launch Wireless Phone Brand

Donald Trump’s business empire may be gearing up to enter the wireless phone industry.

On June 12, DTTM Operations LLC, the entity that manages Donald Trump’s trademarks, filed two new applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for the marks ‘TRUMP’ and ‘T1.’ The filings suggest plans to launch a Trump-branded mobile phone and a wireless service that could compete with the likes of Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile.

According to the applications, the company also intends to open retail locations under the ‘TRUMP’ brand to sell the phones and services.

The applications were filed on an “intent-to-use” basis, a legal designation that means Trump’s company isn’t currently offering the products but has a bona fide intention to do so. As part of the filing, a lawyer for the Trump Organization signed a sworn declaration affirming the company’s genuine plans to bring these goods and services to market.

Trump’s Trademark Filings for Mobile Phones:

While a trademark filing doesn’t guarantee a product launch, the specificity of the applications points to serious consideration. It would mark a significant expansion for Trump’s private business, which has historically focused on real estate, hospitality, and branded merchandise.

One item that stands out about the filings is that T-MOBILE might have a pretty good claim for trademark infringement against ‘T1.’ It would seem unlikely that T-MOBILE could sit back and let the ‘T1’ trademark proceed without a fight. This is because allowing another “T”-formative mark in the mobile phone space would almost undoubtedly dilute the company’s rights in the T-MOBILE mark.

If T-MOBILE claimed the ‘T1’ trademark was too close to its rights, the company would need to prove that an average consumer might think that T-MOBILE was affiliated with Trump’s ‘T1’ network. For example, if consumers think that Trump and T-MOBILE were working together to deliver wireless services, then a solid claim for infringement would exist.

Infringement claims aside, if the plans materialize, Trump’s telecom venture could deliver a MAGA-branded alternative in the mobile space—offering loyal supporters not just red hats, but possibly red phones for their pockets.

Trump’s Trademark Filings Since Taking Office in January 2025

The trademark filings made by Trump Organization this week added to the number of filings his companies have made since January. As of June 13, 2025, a total of 27 trademark filings have been made by companies affiliated with Trump.
