Dion Dawkins is an offensive lineman for the Buffalo Bills in the NFL and is also a Pro Bowler.

Dion Ray Dawkins was born on April 26, 1994, to Eric and Lisa Dawkins. Although Dawkins would later describe himself as a rebellious teenager, he was always a good kid, often offering to shovel snow for his neighbors during harsh winters. This earned him the nickname “Shnowman.”

Dawkins, who graduated in 2012, played football at Rahway High School, as both an offensive and defensive lineman. As a senior, he would be invited to play in the North-South Game. In 2012, he also played at Hargrave Military Academy, where he helped the team record more than 150 rushing yards per game average as an offensive lineman.

He was recruited by the University of Cincinnati, but eventually flipped his commitment to Temple University. He only played in five games, two of which he started in, during his freshman year at Temple, due to a season-ending foot injury. He was named starting left tackle for his sophomore year but missed a few games because of a minor ankle injury. Dawkins developed a reputation for his toughness and his line allowed less than one sack for every 19 pass attempts.

As a junior, Dawkins started in all but one game, and that year’s offensive line was considered to be the second-best in the American Athletic Conference. As a senior, he saved a fumble and advanced it for a first down against Charlotte. He was named Fourth Team All-America, All-ACC Second Team, and an All-Star by the Eastern College Athletic Conference. Dawkins was awarded a letter for each of the last three years that he played at Temple University and graduated with a degree in criminal justice.

Dawkins was invited to play in the Senior Bowl and had a good performance. He was also invited to the 2017 NFL Combine. He performed well at both his school’s official pro day as well as the combine. He ran a 5.11-second 40-yard dash and had a 26-inch vertical jump. Dawkins was ranked as a top offensive lineman and was projected to go in the second round of the draft. As expected, he was taken in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills.

His rookie contract was for four years and was worth a little over four million dollars. Dawkins played in 16 games for the Bills as a rookie. He was named as a starter after an injury to his teammate and would go on to start in 11 games. For the 2018 season, Dawkins was named starting left tackle and would catch his first professional touchdown during the 2018 season in a game against the New York Jets. He caught his second touchdown the following season in a game against the New England Patriots. Before the start of the 2020 football season, Dawkins signed a contract extension for four more years, worth an estimated $60 million.

Dawkins missed training camp before the 2021 football season because he contracted the COVID-19 virus. He spent several days in the hospital and was placed on the COVID-19 reserve list. His recovery and rebuild to playing shape would take several weeks. Dawkins had played in 78 consecutive games before he suffered from COVID-19, but he would return with an impressive season and was named to the Pro Bowl.

Dion Dawkins is known for his outgoing and fun personality. He dyes his hair often and enjoys expressing himself through fashion. He is also known for his positive and uplifting impact on his teammates. Dawkins and his wife Daiyaana have a daughter named Dalilah Rae Dawkins, who was born in 2019.

He launched his charitable foundation Dion’s Dreamers in the summer of 2021 with a Christmas in July pop-up street party. The organization provides mentorship for underserved youth.

In 2019, Dion Dawkins obtained a federal trademark registration for “#YOUALREADYSHNOW” for rubber wristbands and bracelets.

In 2021, he filed a trademark application for “SHNOW” for clothing including hoodies, shirts, and sweatshirts among other items.
