New York State Files Trademarks for “NY ♥ YOU”

New York State Department of Economic Development has filed four new trademark applications for “NY ♥ YOU.”

The phrase is a play on the famous “I ♥ NY” trademark that New York State Department of Economic Development has owned and heavily policed over the years.

The four filings, consisting of two color versions and two black and white versions, were filed on March 27 on an intent-to-use basis. This means that the state has intent to use the trademarks in association with the goods and services they listed in their application. This includes clothing, as well as services for “promoting the economic development of New York State.”

Presumably, this phrase and logo will be used as a slogan for the economic recovery of New York following the coronavirus pandemic.

In order to achieve registration, New York State Department of Economic Development must prove that they are using the using the mark in commerce. We can expect to see the new slogan in the soon.
