Bill Belichick Files Trademarks for ‘Belecast’ and ‘Gold Digger’

Bill Belichick has filed two new trademark applications, one for ‘BELECAST’ and the other for ‘GOLD DIGGER.’

The applications, filed on August 25th by Belichick’s company TCE Rights Management LLC, indicate the legendary coach continues to be interested in off-the-field business ventures.

The ‘BELECAST’ trademark filing claims that Belichick intends to offer a podcast, as well as potentially television shows and documentaries.

Meanwhile, the ‘GOLD DIGGER’ trademark filing claims Belichick plans to offer a jewelry brand using the name. This particular filing is likely to raise eyebrows given Belichick’s much younger girlfriend.

Both applications were filed on an intent-to-use basis, meaning Belichick has sworn to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office that he has a bona fide intent to use these trademarks.

The filing of these applications before the products are launched is a common legal strategy. This is because the date the applications were filed with the United States Patent & Trademark Office becomes the nationwide priority in the trademark. In other words, if another company now files a trademark for ‘GOLD DIGGER’ for a jewelry brand, they would be subject to Belichick’s rights.

The big question now remains: Will men across America actually buy their girlfriends and wives ‘GOLD DIGGER’-branded jewelry?
