Seattle Kraken Withdraw Three Trademark Filings

The Seattle Kraken have withdrawn three of the team’s initial trademark filings– two of the withdrawn filings were for the slogan “RELEASE THE KRAKEN,” the third for a “S” logo.

In late July, the team originally filed a series of new trademark applications for “SEATTLE KRAKEN,” “RELEASE THE KRAKEN,” and logos.

While the applications for the team’s name are still listed as “live” on the USPTO website, three of the filings are now “dead.” The Seattle Kraken filed the requests for “express abandonment” of the three applications just five days after they were submitted.

One potential reason the new NHL hockey team chose to withdraw these filings is because they may have received a demand from another company or individual. In order to avoid any conflict, the Seattle Kraken may have decided to pull the applications.
