New York Islanders File ‘THE BANK’ trademark for New Arena

The New York Islanders filed three trademark applications related to the new arena being built for the team.

One application is for the phrase “THE BANK” and appears to either be the name of the arena or a nickname for it. This filing comes on the heels of the announcement that UBS Bank has entered into a 20-year naming rights deal with the NHL’s Islanders team arena.

In “THE BANK” application, the Islanders indicated that the team “intends to use” the trademark to offer entertainment services in the nature of live musical and theatrical performances as well as arranging sports competitions. In addition, the team indicated they will make and sell “THE BANK” branded face masks.

The Islanders also filed a trademark application for “FROM THE BARN TO THE BANK.” The Barn is what the team’s fans used to call the previous the arena. While this application doesn’t include arena services, it does indicate that the team intends to sell pucks, shirts, blankets, face masks, and more under the “FROM THE BARN TO THE BANK” brand.

Finally, the third trademark filing made by the NHL team was for the phrase “UNITED AS ONE.” It’s possible that this will be used as a new slogan.
