The Cleveland Browns are an American, professional football team based in Cleveland, Ohio. The franchise was founded in 1945 by Paul Brown and Arthur B. McBride and compete in the National Football League’s AFC North division.

The Cleveland Browns first ever trademark filing was made on August 3, 1981 for “Browns.” Since their first filing, the Cleveland Browns have filed for the team name, slogans, uniform designs, and their fan base nicknames.

The passionate fans of the Cleveland Browns are known as the “Dawg Pound,” first used by Hanford Dixon and Frank Minnifield (players on the Browns team) in 1985. Ever since then, the “Dawg Pound” fans have had their own section in the Browns’ stadiums. To acknowledge their fan base, the Cleveland Browns have made over 10 filings for the name “DAWG POUND”, as well as different versions of the Dawg Pound logo.

The Cleveland Browns are unique in that they are the only team in the NFL to not have a logo on their helmets. That is because the logo-less helmet is what the Browns use as their official logo. In 1953, owner, Paul Brown, suggested adding the team mascot, Brownie the Elf, onto the helmets, but this idea was quickly put to rest. Most recently, the Browns filed a trademark for their infamous helmet logo for various items, including football helmets themselves, jewelry, posters, flags, apparel, toys, marketing services, entertainment services, and several other products and services.
