Benny Blanco is the stage name of Benjamin Levin who is an award-winning record producer and recording artist. 

Benjamin Joseph Levin was born in Reston, Virginia on March 8, 1988. His father worked in clothing and his mother worked in assisted living. As a child growing up in Northern Virginia, he wanted to be a rapper. He remembers being inspired by artists like Nas and All-4-One. As a six-year-old, he started to mix his own beats on cassette tapes in his boombox. In his youth, he would even take trips to New York City and sleep at Mcdonald’s while trying to land impromptu meetings with executives. He graduated from high school in 2006 and attended the Institute of Audio Research in New York City.

He combined with rapper Spank Rock to release an EP titled Bangers & Cash, which was based on 2 Live Crew samples. Record producer, Dr. Luke (Lukasz Sebastian Gottwald) appreciated their effort and took Levin under his wing.

During this time, Levin worked with artists like Taio Cruz, Kesha, Katy Perry, and Britney Spears. Several of the songs he worked on charted, including Spears’ “Circus” (2008). He worked for Dr. Luke for four years before he recorded his first hit without his mentor. 

Levin has recorded more than two dozen number-one songs with a vast array of musical stars. He helped to write and produce “Moves Like Jagger” (2011) for Maroon 5, which became one of the best-selling singles of all time. He also worked on “Don’t Trust Me” (2008) for 3OH!3 and “Stereo Hearts” (2011) for Gym Class Heroes. In 2013, the Songwriters’ Hall of Fame awarded Levin the Hal David Starlight Award. 

In 2014, Levin founded two imprint labels under Interscope Records. One label is called Mad Love Records and the other is Friends Keep Secrets and is meant to be more of a developmental label. 

Much of Levin’s success is in the relationships he builds with musicians and the kind of rapport ha he has with them. Some of his greatest musical success has come in partnerships with some of his best friends, like Ed Sheeran and Kanye West. 

Levin decided to release music himself as an artist because it presented a new challenge for him. His debut song was called “Eastside” (2018). The song featured friends and fellow artists, Halsey and Khalid. He released the song on his Friends Keep Secrets label. It debuted at 56 on the Billboard Hot 100 and went all the way to number nine, giving Levin his first top ten hit as a solo artist. The song did well on charts around the world including in Ireland, Singapore, and Denmark.

His debut album was titled Friends Keep Secrets (2018) and it is certified platinum. 

His second single was a collaboration with Calvin Harris titled “I Found You” (2018). The song was certified silver in the UK and they would later release a version for charity with singer Miguel in 2019. 

“I Can’t Get Enough” (2019) was Levin’s fourth released single. It was a collaboration with Selena Gomez, J Balvin, and Tainy and has lyrics in both English and Spanish. It was nominated for an MTV Video Music Awards for “Best Latin” and its official video has received more than 200 million views on YouTube. 

In 2019, Levin also released “Graduation,” a collaboration with Juice Wrld. The song was released less than two months before Juice Wrld’s death and it rose to number eight on the Billboard 100 and is certified platinum. 

Levin also collaborated with Justin Bieber on “Lonely” in 2020. It is included on Bieber’s album Justice (2021) and was nominated for a Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. It peaked at 12 on U.S. charts and debuted at number one on Canadian charts.

Benjamin Levin obtained a federal trademark registration for “BENNY BLANCO”, which is his stage name, to be used for entertainment services that include music composition and production for others and production of musical sound recordings and other related items, and for musical sound and video recordings. Additionally, he also applied to register “BENNY BLANCO” as a federal trademark for use with calendars, posters, stickers, and clothing items, including shirts, bottoms, footwear, and more. 

He obtained a federal trademark registration for “FRIENDS KEEP SECRETS” for clothing items including shirts, bottoms, footwear, and more, and musical sound and video recordings. He has also applied to register the phrase as a federal trademark for calendars, posters, and stickers. 

In 2021, Levin obtained a federal trademark registration for “MUNCHIES KITCHEN” for charitable fundraising services, charitable services, and a website for charitable fundraising services.
