Jerry Seinfeld (Jerome Allen Seinfeld), born April 29, 1954 in Brooklyn, New York, is a comedian, actor, director and producer, recognized for his starring role in the hugely successful television sitcom ‘Seinfeld’, which is also a trademark protected by Warner Bros. He was born to Kalman Seinfeld and Betty Seinfeld and grew up in Massapequa, New York. Seinfeld completed his preliminary education in Massapequa and got a degree in theatre and communications from Queens College. Since an early age, Seinfeld was interested in becoming a comedian. His interest in comedy was ignited by his father’s influence who was also a closet comedian. From an early age, Seinfeld worked hard and watched comedy shows day and night to train himself and learn tricks used by comedians.  Since an early age, Seinfeld grew up spending multiple hours watching established comedians like Bill Cosby, Richard Pryor, Don Rickles who were a source of great inspiration to him.

In 1976, soon after his graduation, Seinfeld he made his stand-up debut at an open mic night in the Catch a Rising Star nightclub and landed an opportunity to appear on The Tonight Show in 1981. This opportunity gave him his first national exposure and soon the show gained popularity and people started loving Seinfeld for his performance and unique style. In 1979, he got an opportunity to act in an American television sitcom, ‘Benson’ in which he played the role of a mail delivery boy, this sitcom was broadcast on the ABC network. He partnered with Larry David in 1988 and created ‘The Seinfeld Chronicles’ for the NBC network. This show became a huge success in America and lasted for almost a decade with nine seasons and 180 episodes.

Seinfeld published his first book ‘Seinlanguage’ in 1993, though he never filed a trademark to protect it. The book received a lot of praise and was listed on the New York Times Best Seller list. He also played himself on an American Television sitcom made by Garry Shandling and Dennis Klein. The name of this sitcom was ‘The Larry Sanders Show’. He also starred in a stand-up comedy special for HBO with the name ‘I’m Telling You for the Last Time’. He then decided to go-ahead further with his writing career and published his second book ‘Halloween’, the target audience of the book was young children. Later in 2009, Seinfeld became the executive producer for the panel game and TV reality show, ‘The Marriage Ref’. He also became the first guest to appear on the premiere episode of the talk show, ‘The Jay Leno Show’. Seinfeld also made an appearance on stage for the first time in the United Kingdom and appeared later on ‘The Daily Show’ and the HBO special ‘Talking Funny’.

Seinfeld has won many awards and has been recognized for his outstanding performance. He won the Primetime Emmy award in the category of ‘Outstanding Comedy Series’ for ‘Seinfeld’. Seinfeld married public relations executive, Jessica Sklar in December 1999. They have three children together. He also supports the global charitable organization, The David Lynch Foundation. He also co-produced and co-wrote the film, ‘Bee Movie’.
