Patrick Ewing Trademark

Patrick Ewing is considered to be one of the greatest basketball players of all time and he is currently the head coach of the Georgetown University Men’s basketball team.

The son of Carl and Dorothy Ewing, Patrick Aloysius Ewing was born in Kingston, Jamacia on August 5, 1962. When he was 12 years old, his parents relocated to the United States. Ewing loved to play sports and while at the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, he learned to play basketball. He was so talented, that he was hated and jeered by opposing teams, even in high school. He led his school to three straight Division 1 titles and he was named National High School Player of the Year and a McDonald’s All-American.

In college, Ewing played at Georgetown for Coach John Thompson. As a freshman, he was named a starter and he helped to lead the team to a Big East Championships. After a rough sophomore season, Ewing again led his team to both a Big East Championship and a National Championship. He was selected as the Big East Player of the Year.

In 1984, Ewing played for Team USA in the Los Angeles Olympic Games, where he helped the team to win a gold medal. He would again play for Team USA in the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, where the United States won another gold medal in men’s basketball.

During his senior year in college, Ewing took his team back to the national championships but failed to secure a victory. He has one of the most illustrious collegiate basketball careers in history. Ewing was a three-time All-American, four-time Big East Defensive Player of the Year, and two-time Big East Player of the Year.

Ewing was drafted by the New York Knicks and he played for them for more than a decade. Even though his first season was plagued with injuries, he averaged more than 20 points per game. He was named the Rookie of the Year and selected to the NBA All-Rookie First Team.

The Knicks would eventually retire Ewing’s jersey number after he had an outstanding eleven seasons with the team. He was named to both the NBA’s 50th Anniversary All-Time Team and the NBA’s 75th Anniversary All-Time Team. Ewing was also named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team three times, to the All-NBA Second Team six times, and to the All-NBA First Team once, as well as being chosen as an NBA All-Star eleven times.

He played briefly for the Seattle SuperSonics and the Orlando Magic before transitioning into coaching. Ewing’s first coaching job was with the Washington Wizards as an assistant. He continued his career as an assistant coach in the NBA for several different organizations including the Houston Rockets, Orlando Magic, and the Charlotte Hornets. In 2017, Ewing returned to his alma mater to be the head coach. He coached the team to a Big East Tournament championship in 2021.

Ewing married Rita Williams in 1989 and they had three children together, but would later get divorced in 1998. He also has a daughter with his current girlfriend. Ewing currently lives in Cresskill, New Jersey, and his net worth is believed to be over $85 million. He has worked with many companies over the years and has had many endorsements. In 1986, he signed with Adidas, which was his first major endorsement deal. Then, from 1991 until 1996, he partnered with Next Sports to release footwear under his name. He later revived the line in 2012 with the help of David Goldberg at GPF Footwear.

Ewing has appeared in multiple movies, including Space Jam, The Exorcist III, and Senseless. He has made guest appearances on television shows such as Spin City and Mad About You and has even appeared in a few Snickers ads. He also co-wrote a children’s book.

In 2012, around the time that Ewing successfully revitalized his footwear line, he obtained a federal trademark registration for his name, “PATRICK EWING” for use with headwear, footwear, and athletic bags. The headwear, athletic gear, and bags were also sold under his brand alongside his sneakers. He also obtained a federal trademark registration for “EWING” to be used for the same purposes.

Ewing also filed a trademark application for a logo, with the image of a basketball and the words “EWING PATRICK EWING,” for footwear as well as shirts, shoes, and tops. Additionally, he filed a trademark application for “33 EWING,” which is his last name and jersey number, for the same purposes.
