Jaire Zakar Alexander was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on February 9, 1997, to Tawanda and Earl Alexander. He later moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he attended Rocky River High School and played both baseball and football. During his senior season in high school, he had 30 tackles with ten pass breakups and four interceptions. Offensively, he had 1,123 yards and 18 touchdowns. He was honored by being selected to play in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas.

Coming out of high school, he was considered a three-star recruit and he committed to the University of South Carolina. Eventually, he flipped his commitment to the University of Louisville, where he was an early enrollee. He only started in one game as a freshman, although he played in thirteen. Alexander only missed one game due to an injury. He played as a defensive back and as the team’s primary punt returner. He had 19 tackles and an interception during the season and played in the postseason bowl game. In the following season, he became a more dynamic punt returner and improved at corner as well. Alexander had 39 tackles and five interceptions during the season, and he was awarded second-team all-ACC honors. As a junior for the Cardinals, he had 19 tackles and one interception, having spent the season dealing with a nagging injury. Due to this injury, he decided not to play in the postseason bowl game that year. He declared for the NFL draft at the end of his junior season. In 2018, he graduated in just three years with a degree in criminal justice.

Alexander was invited to the 2018 NFL Combine, where he ran a 4.38-second 40-yard dash and had a 35-inch vertical jump. He was selected in the first round of the draft by the Packers, who signed him to a four-year contract worth over $12 million. He performed well at training camp and made the team’s roster as the fourth cornerback on the depth chart.

He played in the team’s season opener, where he had three tackles. A groin injury kept him sidelined for two weeks, mid-season. Alexander’s first interception as a professional came that year in a game against the Buffalo Bills. He ended up starting in 11 of the 13 games that he played in and had a total of 63 tackles and an interception. In the 2019 season, he started in all 16 games and had 57 tackles and two interceptions. During the 2020 season, which was heavily impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, he started in all 15 games that he played in. He had 51 tackles and an interception. Additionally, during the postseason, Alexander has also racked up 16 tackles, two interceptions, and four passes defended.

At the end of the 2020 football season, Alexander was ranked as the best cornerback in the NFL by Pro Football Focus. He was voted to the Pro Bowl and also named to the 2020 All-Pro Team second team. During the off-season, the team picked up the fifth-year option on Alexander’s contract. He then spent much of the 2021 season on the injured reserve with a shoulder injury.

Alexander has been heavily involved in community and charity efforts in Green Bay, giving his time to charities and organizations including the local Boys & Girls Club of Greater Green Bay, the Milwaukee Children’s Hospital, the Milwaukee Police Department, the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation, the United Way, and The Salvation Army.
