Harrison Bader is a professional baseball player for the St Louis Cardinals. He was awarded the Gold Glove Award for center field in 2021.

Harrison Bader is from Bronxville, New York, and was born in 1994. He grew up with one younger sister named Sasha. As a child, his favorite team was the New York Yankees and he was inspired by outfielder Roger Maris. He attended Horace Mann School where he played baseball as well as playing for a club baseball team.

After high school, he first committed to play baseball for the University of Pittsburgh but then decommitted so that he could commit to the University of Maryland. Because the University of Maryland did not offer him a scholarship, he decided to decommit again so that he could play for the University of Florida, which offered him a scholarship.

Bader led the Gators in batting average during his freshman and sophomore seasons. As a sophomore, he was suspended for 19 games but played collegiate summer baseball in the Cape Cod Baseball League. During his final year at the University of Florida, he had a batting average of .297. He also hit 17 home runs and 66 RBIs while playing in a total of 67 games. He played in five games in the 2015 College World Series and had a batting average of .348.

He was drafted in the third round of the 2015 Major League Baseball draft by the St. Louis Cardinals. In his professional debut, Bader hit two home runs for the State College Spikes. He was then promoted to the Peoria Chiefs, where he was named the MWL Player of the Week (August 24–30).

In 2016, he started the season with the Springfield Cardinals, where he was selected to play in the Texas League All-Star Game. Bader was then promoted to the Class AAA Memphis Redbirds, where he was rated in the top 100 for the first time by Baseball America. During his time with both teams, his combined batting average was .267. He hit 19 home runs with 58 RBIs and was awarded the Cardinals’ 2016 Minor League Player of the Year.

He was called up to the major leagues by the Cardinals in July of 2017 to replace an injured player. In that game, he had his first major league hit, hit a double, and had the winning run. His first home run in the major leagues was off of Johnny Cueto at AT&T Park. Again in 2017, he was named the Cardinals’ Minor League Player of the Year.

Before the start of the next season, Bader was ranked the fifth-best prospect for St Louis by MLB.com. He again started the season in Memphis with the Redbirds, but after another injury to a player, he was again called up to the major leagues, where he became their fourth outfielder until their starting center fielder was traded. In 2018, which was considered to be his rookie season, he had a batting average of .264. He also had 12 home runs with 37 RBIs and 15 stolen bases. Bader played in 138 games that season

He started the 2019 season in St. Louis as the starting center fielder. Bader struggled a little bit and was moved to the bench, where he was eventually demoted back to the Redbirds. Less than a month later, he was promoted again to play against the Milwaukee Brewers. In that game, he hit a triple and scored two runs. For the season, his batting average was .205 and he hit 12 home runs with 39 RBIs and 11 stolen bases. He was one of six Cardinals named as a Gold Glove finalist.

Bader was the Cardinal’s starting outfielder in the 2020 season, which was shortened due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. During the shortened season, he played in 50 games with a batting average of .226. He also had four home runs with 11 RBIs.

Bader missed the beginning of the 2021 season due to an injury to his arm. He returned in late April, but in less than a month, he injured his rib. He again returned on July 1 and had his first career grand slam. His batting average was .267 for the season and he had 16 home runs with 50 RBIs and nine stolen bases.

In 2018, Harrison Bader filed a trademark application for “BADERTOTS” to be used for conducting programs for sports or entertainment for children and motivational speaking pertaining to sports as well as batting gloves and shoes, hats, and jerseys. In 2021, he also obtained a federal trademark registration for “BADERTOTS” for use with a fried potato dish, french fries topped with specific toppings, and potato-based snack foods.

Bader also applied for a trademark for “UNCHAIN THE MANE,” a reference to his signature hair, in 2018, to cover use on batting gloves, jerseys, t-shirts, hats, and shoes. In 2021, he filed a trademark application for “BADER STATE OF MIND” for use while providing podcasts.
