Devonte’ Graham is a point guard for the New Orleans Pelicans in the National Basketball Association.

Devonte’ Terrell Graham was born in Raleigh, North Carolina on February 22, 1995. He played 4A high school basketball at Broughton High School in Raleigh, North Carolina. As a senior, he averaged almost 16 points and 6 assists per game and would help to lead his team to a state championship. Graham also played in the North Carolina Coaches Association All-Star Game and the Carolinas Basketball All-Star Classic. He also played for Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. He led their team to a New England Championship and a National Prep Championship. He was recruited by The University of Virginia, North Carolina State University, and the University of Kansas.

Graham chose to attend the University of Kansas. He majored in communication studies, with a minor in African American studies. He played basketball for the Jayhawks and was a three-year starter. He would become an all-time statistical leader during his time at the university, becoming the 13th best all-time scorer (1750), the second-best three-point shooter, and had the tenth most games started.

He won a team gold medal while representing the United States at the 2015 Summer Universiade. He also won four Big 12 regular-season titles as a Jayhawk and played in the Final Four during his senior year. Graham was awarded many trophies and accolades during his college career, including Consensus First Team All-America in 2018, Big 12 Championship All-Tournament Team in 2018, and Big 12 Player of the Year in 2018. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies in May of 2018.

Graham was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks and immediately traded to the Charlotte Hornets. In his rookie season, he played in the G-League for the Greensboro Swarm, occasionally being called to play for the Hornets. His rookie season was ended by a right knee injury.

In his second year, Graham was improved overall as a player. He was considered for the NBA’s Most Improved Player award after posting a per-game average of 18 points and 7.5 assists. He had six three-pointers in one game, which set a franchise record. He would also set his own personal benchmark for points scored in one game that year, by scoring 40 points along with five assists and five rebounds against the Brooklyn Nets. His scoring average would increase by more than 13.5 points before the season was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.

He was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans in August of 2021. During his first year with his new team, Graham set a record for the NBA’s longest buzzer-beating game-winning shot ever. Graham is still an active player for the Pelicans. He signed a four-year contract with the organization in 2021.

Graham often uses the following tags on social media: “BELI4VE” and “BELI4VE in YOURSELF.” In 2020, Devonte’ Graham applied for a federal trademark registration for “BELI4VE” for basketball camps, sports services related to basketball, basketball games, basketball instruction, and basketball facilities. Graham runs his youth basketball camp through ProCamps. The camp is held in Overland Park, Kansas, and is offered for children from first to twelfth grade. It is a one-day camp with hands-on instruction, skill training activities, and contests. Graham spends some time personally working with each child at the camp.

In 2020, Graham applied for a trademark for “BELI4VE” for charitable services. He has not yet established his own charitable foundation, but it is likely that he will in the near future. His past charitable endeavors have included participating in Roundball Classic Charity Bowling, Brian Hanni’s Annual Charity Hoops Showcase, raising money for victims of Hurricane Ida, and SoleSavy Presents Sneaker Charity Raffle. During the coronavirus pandemic, Graham worked with Crisis Assistance Ministry and WingStop to provide and deliver meals to needy families.

Graham also filed a trademark application for “BELI4VE” for use with clothing, such as basketball shoes, t-shirts, hats, and more. He also applied for a trademark for “BELI4VE” for printed items including things like basketball trading cards, flyers for basketball camps, stickers, decals, and similar items. Additionally, he filed a federal trademark application for “BELI4VE” for jewelry like pins, tie clips, medallions, and similar items.
