Baron Davis is a retired professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association from 1999 until 2012. He is also a businessman and philanthropist.
Baron Walter Louis Davis was born in Los Angeles, California. He was raised in South Central by his grandmother and played high school basketball at Crossroads School in Santa Monica. As a senior, he was the Gatorade National Player of the Year and played in the McDonald’s All-American Game.
After high school, Davis chose to stay close to home and attended UCLA where he also played college basketball. In his freshman year, he was named the Pac-10 Freshman of the Year. After his sophomore year, he was named Third Team All-America and decided to end his collegiate career and enter the draft.
Davis was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets, where he played for three years. During this time, he recorded the longest shot in NBA history, which came in at 89 feet. In 2002, the team relocated and was renamed the New Orleans Hornets. Davis continued to play with the team in New Orleans until 2005 when the Hornets traded him to the Golden State Warriors. He then helped lead the Warriors to their first playoff appearance in more than a decade.
In 2008, he joined the Los Angeles Clippers. Davis spent his first year in Los Angeles dealing with repeat injuries, but in his second season, he scored his 5,000th career point. In 2011, he was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he would score 18 points in his debut with the team. He was waived at the end of the season but was still paid $30 million due to contractual obligations. Davis would go on to play for the New York Knicks in both 2011 and 2012 but continued to deal with repeated injuries. These injuries included a herniated disc in his back and patellar tendon, as well as tears to both his MCL and ACL, both of which required surgery.
Davis would return to the basketball in the Drew League in 2016, which was filmed for the documentary The Drew: No Excuse, Just Produce. After this, he returned to the NBA Development League to play for the Iowa Energy. He also appeared in the NBA Celebrity All-Star Game 2017 and the Big3 league.
In 2012, Baron Davis created Baron Davis Enterprises. Baron Davis Enterprises oversees his interests in several companies, which he founded.
Davis founded the company Business Inside the Game (BIG) in 2017. In 2018, Baron Davis Enterprises filed a trademark application for “BIG BUSINESS INSIDE THE GAME” and “BUSINESS INSIDE THE GAME” for consulting services in technology, culture, sports, media, and investments.

In 2019, Baron Davis Enterprises obtained a federal trademark registration for “SLIC, SPORTS LIFESTYLE IN CULTURE” for entertainment services related to content creation.
Davis is also the driving force behind History of the Game, a metaverse-based collection, and a celebration of all things basketball. The company filed a trademark application for “PERSONAL STASH” for clothing items like hats, t-shirts, jerseys, and more, for rolling papers, hookahs, lighters, and other related items, for alcoholic beverages other than beer and for non-alcoholic beverages and juices.
