Aleksej Pokuševski is a Serbian-born professional basketball player. He plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder of the National Basketball Association.

Aleksej Pokuševski was born in Belgrade on December 26, 2001, after his family escaped from Prishtina, Kosovo during the Kosovo War. His father, Saša Pokuševski, is a former professional basketball player and coach.

Pokuševski grew up playing basketball for local youth clubs. In 2015, he moved to Greece after signing a youth team contract to play basketball for the Olympiacos, at the age of 13. Olympiacos is a Greek professional basketball club. In 2017, he was invited to the Jordan Brand Classic Camp. He would also be invited to the Basketball Without Borders Europe Camp in 2018. The following spring, Pokuševski was invited to attend the NBA All-Star Basketball Without Borders Global Camp, which was held in the United States, however, he failed to secure a visa in order to attend the event.

Pokuševski is the youngest Olympiacos player to ever make their debut in the Euro League at just seventeen years and two and a half months of age. During the 2019-2020 season, Pokuševski was assigned to the league’s second-tier, Greek A2 League, playing for the Olympiacos B. He injured his knee and then had to miss almost three months of basketball. After his return, he was able to play in 11 games, eight of which he started in. He averaged more than 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists, all while playing an average of only 23 minutes per game. Pokuševski was called up to the main team, due to multiple injuries, suffered by other players. He was able to play for two minutes in his only EuroLeague game, as the season was canceled soon after due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Pokuševski left the Olympiacos when he was drafted 17th in the 2020 NBA draft. He was originally drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves but was traded two days later as part of a package deal to the Oklahoma City Thunder. He signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder in December of 2020 and was assigned to the NBA G League to play for the Oklahoma City Blue. In March of 2021, he made his official NBA debut in a win against the Memphis Grizzlies. In this debut, he became the youngest player in the NBA for that year and scored his first double-double. During Pokuševski’s rookie season in the NBA, he started in 28 of the 45 games that he played in. He averaged more than 8 points per game, with 4 rebounds, and 2 assists.

In 2021, Aleksej Pokuševski filed a trademark application for his nickname, “POKU” for use on athletic apparel and athletic uniforms, including items such as caps, hats, footwear, jackets, shirts, and footwear.
