Our New Jersey continuing legal education courses focus on intellectual property law, more specifically trademarks. While you may not realize it, intellectual property can be found in every industry, as each business has at least one protectable trademark – their name. Our courses provide basic, but important information surrounding trademark law, allowing you to speak knowledgeably on the topic and perhaps provide added value to your clients.
Attorneys licensed by the State Bar of New Jersey are required to complete 24 CLE credit hours every two years. Five credits hours must be dedicated to Ethics courses with at least two hours in Diversity, Inclusion, and Elimination of Bias.
All 24 credit hours may be completed online.
New Jersey’s CLE compliance deadline is December 31 of each year, even though reporting cycles are two years long.
Compliance Group 1 attorneys certify and report their compliance by December 31 of even-numbered years. Attorneys who’s birthday occurs between January 1 through June 30 are part of Compliance Group 1.
Compliance Group 2 attorneys certify and report their compliance by December 31 of odd-numbered years. Attorneys who’s birthday occurs between July 1 through December 31 are part of Compliance Group 1.

Attorneys in New Jersey can acquire their NJ CLE credits by attending continuing legal education courses that have been approved and accredited by the State Bar of New Jersey’s CLE Department. Courses can be taken in a variety of formats, from live classes or webinars to previously recorded audio or video content.
Yes, in New Jersey, attorneys can roll over a maximum of 12 CLE credit hours each year.
New Jersey is a self-reporting state, meaning that attorneys licensed in NJ are required to report their own CLE attendance. Attorneys are encouraged to report their CLE compliance online.
Gerben Perrott, PLLC will provide New Jersey attorneys with an electronic Certificate of Attendance within 48 hours of the CLE. Please maintain your Certificate of Attendance for at least three years in case of an audit.
