Josh Gerben Breaks the News of the Most Recent NCAA Trademark Filing, “MASK MADNESS”

In a sign of the times, the NCAA filed a trademark application for “MASK MADNESS” on December 23, 2020. The trademark will be used in association with face masks, as well as for campaigns promoting the use of the masks during the COVID-19 pandemic. If approved by the USPTO, the registration would prevent other individuals and companies from profiting off the slogan.
Newsweek shared founder Josh Gerben’s tweet breaking the story of the recent filing:
“Josh Gerben, the founder of the trademark law firm Gerben IP, posted the news on his Twitter account Monday.”
The NCAA has filed a trademark for MASK MADNESS.
The filing, made on December 23, indicates the NCAA will:
1. Sell "MASK MADNESS" branded face masks.
