Stephen (Steve) Keefe is a patent attorney with over 15 years of extensive patent preparation and prosecution experience in the United States and every major economic market across the globe.

During the course of his practice, Steve has drafted hundreds of patent applications for a wide range of different technologies. His clients have included one of the largest construction equipment manufacturers in the world, startups, a leading automotive manufacturer, multinational imaging technology companies, small businesses, cutting edge defense companies, sole inventors, and many other enterprises across a large spectrum of different industries.

Steve has prosecuted several hundred inventions to patent allowance, including many patent applications that he originally drafted. He also coordinated international and U.S. patent prosecution of numerous patent families as outside counsel for many different clients. 

His patent prosecution skills and technical expertise build on the experience he gained as a Patent Examiner in the United States Patent and Trademark Office working in mechanical and electro-mechanical technologies. 

Steve lives in Richmond with his wife and their two boys. When not working on patents to protect client technical innovations, he spends most of his time playing sports and video games with his sons, working on the family’s old Victorian house, or planning the next family movie night.

• As in-house patent counsel, Steve managed all patent functions of a major business unit of a multinational healthcare company, including coordinating all patent processes of several major R&D centers in Europe and Asia, including surgical tables, surgical lighting, medical equipment sterilization, and other electro-mechanical healthcare technologies
• Managed an international patent portfolio encompassing several hundred patent families, which included directing outside patent counsel in all major European countries, the U.S., Canada, China, Japan, Brazil, Russia, and India.
