Josh Gerben Explains How Unusual the ‘MrBeast Financial’ Trademark Filing is to Business Insider

MrBeast recently filed a trademark application for ‘MrBeast Financial’ indicating that the YouTube star is planning to offer banking and other financial services under his brand.

Trademark attorney Josh Gerben explains how this trademark filing differs from other influencer brand filings. 

It’s unusual for a creator to enter a field like banking themselves because of the regulation involved, said Josh Gerben. Even in the context of a licensing deal, there’s a reputational risk when people’s money is involved.

“You’re putting your brand’s reputation on the line,” Gerben said. “If you’re doing an energy drink or clothing line, the chances of things going wrong is pretty low.”
