NBC News Quotes Josh Gerben about Tiger Woods Trademark Dispute
A company that makes cooling products for athletes, named Tigeraire, claims that Tiger Woods and his Sun Day Red brand have “unlawfully hijacked” Tigeraire’s logo into their design.
NBC News consulted with trademark attorney Josh Gerben about the dispute.
Tigeraire’s Opposition to the Sun Day Red logos will bring those trademark applications to a halt. However, it is unlikely to affect the future production of the line, said Josh Gerben.
“They now likely give themselves an opportunity to negotiate with Tiger and TaylorMade to see if there’s a resolution that might be had.”
Gerben expects the case to settle long before it goes to a trial.
“By filing this opposition, the portable fan company really basically gets them a seat at the table to negotiate,” he said. “Because in order for Tiger and TaylorMade to get this trademark registered there, you’re gonna have to win this case.”
