Jennifer Aniston is an award-winning American actress who famously portrayed Rachel Green on the sitcom Friends in the 1990s and early 2000s. In addition to her role on Friends, she has made movies that have grossed more than $1.5 billion. She is also a successful producer and businesswoman.

Jennifer Joanna Aniston was born into an acting family. She was born in 1969 in Los Angeles, California to Nancy Dow and John Aniston. Nancy Dow was an actress who appeared in several television shows and movies including the film The Ice House. John Aniston is an award winning actor who has portrayed Victor Kiriakis on NBC soap opera Days of Our Lives for more than forty years.

She was moved to New York City at the age of six and was enrolled in the Waldorf School. By the time she was eleven, she had discovered acting and was taken to Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts.

After school, Aniston worked in off Broadway productions while holding a variety of day jobs including being a telemarketer. She had small roles in several television shows including Molloy, Muddling Through and Quantum Leap. Her first major role was in the horror film Leprechaun in 1993. Her first starring role in a movie was in Picture Perfect in 1997.

Television executive Warren Littlefield encouraged Aniston to continue acting and shortly thereafter helped to cast her as Rachel on Friends. This would be the role that propelled Aniston to international fame. She played the role for more than a decade and won many awards for it including an Emmy and a Golden Globe.

During the years that she was on Friends, she married fellow actor Brad Pitt on July 29, 2000, and they divorced on October 2, 2005. She was also in several movies during this time, including comedy She’s the One (1996), The Good Girl (2002), Bruce Almighty (2003) and Along Came Polly (2004).

Aniston found much success in films after her many years on television. She starred or co-starred in movies like Rumor Has It (2005), The Break-Up (2006), He’s Just Not That Into You (2009), and We’re the Millers (2013). During this time, she also made special guest appearances on television. Due to her popularity many shows were happy to welcome her on for an episode, including Dirt, 30 Rock and Cougar Town.

In 2015 Aniston married Justin Theroux and they separated in 2017.

More recently she has had success with movies such as Life of Crime (2014), She’s Funny That Way (2015) and Storks (2016). In 2018, she starred in and directed Dumplin’, a musical comedy, which was her first streamed project. In 2019, she returned to television on The Morning Show, for which she has received a Screen Actors Guild Award, two Golden Globe Awards, and a Primetime Emmy Award nomination.

During her years as a Hollywood staple, Aniston has built her name into a powerful brand and has had many lucrative endorsements. Some of her more popular endorsements were for Falic Fashion Group, Living Proof, Microsoft, L’Oréal, SmartWater and Aveeno. That said, she has surprisingly not ever filed documents to trademark her name for use as an entertainer or actor.

She has consistently been one of the top paid actresses in the world for more than twenty years. She helped found the production company Plan B Entertainment in 2002 with ex-husband Pitt, but she withdrew in 2005. She formed a new production company Echo Films in 2008 with producer Kristin Hahn.

In 2010, she released her first perfume. Although there was never a trademark dispute over the name, the original choice was too close to a name already in use, so she chose to call it simply “Jennifer Aniston,” which she acquired the trademark for in 2010. She has not filed trademark applications for the individual names of subsequent perfumes in her line like Beachscape and Solstice Bloom.

Aniston is well-known as a philanthropist and has made appearances in commercials supporting St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. She received GLAAD’s Vanguard Award in 2007 and is well known for her stance on environmental causes as well. She donated half of a million dollars to Doctors Without Borders and is also a supporter of charities such as EB Medical Research Foundation, the Entertainment Industry Foundation Women’s Cancer Research Fund, Casa Hogar Sion Orphanage, Clothes Off Our Backs and the Ricky Martin Foundation.

After appearing in almost fifty movies, Aniston doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon. She continues to act and produce as well as engage in business and charity ventures. Her series, The Morning Show, was held up due to the COVID-19 crisis, but is now back on schedule.

Jennifer Aniston is now residing in Los Angeles, California. Her net worth is considered to be around $300 million.
