The football team that competes in the NFL’s National Football Conference East division and calls Arlington, Texas home, is the Dallas Cowboys. They played their first season in 1960 in the Cotton Bowl Stadium. Since then they have played in the Texas Stadium and their current home, the AT&T Stadium. For 12+ years, the Cowboys have been listed as the most valued NFL team according to Forbes. In 2014, the Cowboys made the record books for a US sports team, generating $620 million in revenue. The NFL team has been commonly referred to as ‘America’s Team’, which the team has filed trademarks for, for its overwhelming revenue as well as their continued stadium sell-outs.
The infamous star logo of the Cowboys has been a staple since the inception of the franchise. The logo has gone through little change, except for adding a white line and blue border in 1964. The team also has made little change to their uniforms. The colors and look have gone essentially unchanged, only swapping the placement of the star logo and colors on the pants and jerseys.
The first trademark filing the team made was a cartoon figure of a Cowboys player riding a horse. Since, the Dallas Cowboys have filed for a plethora of trademarks, including their name, logos, uniforms, mascot, and fan clubs. The Cowboys have also filed for some of their concession stands, including CANTINA AZUL and COWBOY’S CORRAL.
